Our History

The heritage of WARDROBE can be traced back to 1978 when the skilled masters- JJ Lim, AF Chai and KC Phuan- established Spark Manshop to create tailored clothing for gentlemen.

All three friends studied menswear design and tailoring in London’s Tailor & Cutter Academy in 1972 and to London College of Fashion two years later. They also underwent practical tailoring training in reputable tailoring houses in Savile Row, London.

Upon their return to Malaysia in 1978, they set up Spark Manshop. Through sheer effort and dedication, Spark Manshop became a prominent household name in the Malaysian tailoring industry by the late twentieth century. In 1996, the friends sold off Spark Manshop to a new management.

Over time, they decided to start anew and hence, WARDROBE was born in 2001. Through distinguished customer service and exceptional standard of quality, the finest gentlemen’s shop was positioned with a concept of lifestyle and boutique- style master craftsmanship tailoring, ready to wear and accessories for men. Gaining recognition among elite clientele in the country, as well as global clients from Singapore, Australia, United States of America and United Kingdom, WARDROBE was approached by a leading bespoke tailor from London’s Savile Row. Through the ensuing partnership, WARDROBE has earned rich experience and knowledge.
